     The Marijampolė County Archives preserve over 242,000 files which occupy 1,986 linear metres of shelving space. They accumulate documents created by the state institutions which used to be functioning (until 1944) and still are functioning on the greater part of the territory known as Sūduva, i.e. Marijampolė, Kazlų Rūda, Kalvarija municipalities, Vilkaviškis and Šakiai districts. Archives is also involved in supervision of records management of local public institutions.
