"Past for the Future" step challenge has ended on May the 3rd, 2023. The steps challenge won by the team of the Lithuanian Central State Archive. The team demonstrated an impressive result - walking 34,575,203 steps (24,697 kilometers). Miroslava Lipnevič, a member of this team, won the first place among all hikers. Her contribution to the total number of steps is 2,015,233 steps. Congratulations to the first place winners!

Second place was won by the team of the Office of the Chief Archivist of Lithuania (28,818,351 steps or 20,585 kilometers). Klaipėda Regional State Archive won the third place (walked 27,625,220 steps or 19,732 kilometers).

The total result of this year's steps challenge is 144,388,059 steps (103,135 kilometers). We had set a goal to travel round the globe once, but we managed to do it three times.

During the first challenge in 2021, total route covered by the participants of the steps challenge was almost 6,000 km - these kilometers would have been enough to surround Lithuania three times. We all traveled together from Trakai to the Black Sea during the second challenge in 2022.

This year, the participants were divided into 11 teams: the Office of the Chief Archivist of Lithuania, the Lithuanian State Historical Archive, the Lithuanian Central State Archive, the Lithuanian Literature and Art Archive, the Lithuanian Special Archive, the New Lithuanian State Archive, the Vilnius Regional State Archive, the Kaunas Regional State Archive, the Klaipėda Regional Archive the State Archive, the Šiauliai Regional State Archive and the tema of History Enthusiasts.

While collecting steps, we visited the Belmont educational hiking trails, explored the historical old town of Vilnius, admired the picturesque surroundings of Aukštadvaris, walking along the Skrebis forest educational hiking trail.
